Leeds Peace Trail on 21st Sept
To mark the UN World Day of Peace on 21st September Leeds City Council, The Peace Museum and Together for Peace are pleased to launch the Leeds Peace Trail and map.
The trail (including an A2 map and podcast) suggests walking routes around the city centre which will introduce people to a variety of stories of social action and peacemaking, from past to present. A range of sites of historic interest and stories that will raise awareness on local and global issues and people have been chosen that include: war, refugees & asylum, equality, nuclear effects, human rights, apartheid, violent crime, destitution, and campaigning.
"The development of this Peacetrail will help to spread the message that individuals and groups can bring about change for the better. It will take people on an interesting journey around the city showing the rich, peace heritage that carries through to the present day."

An event to launch the Leeds Peace trail and map will be hosted at Leeds Central Library on 21st September. Guests include the Lord Mayor, Leeds MPs, representatives from campaigning and social action organisations and children from Little London Primary and Intake School. During the day children from the primary school will take part in a treasure hunt based on the trail. Brief presentations and background to the trail and map will be given along with a lunch reception from 12.30- 1.30pm. At this time the young people from Intake School will talk about their peace stories and projects. Maps will be available from Leeds Tourist Office by the train station and Central Library (while stocks last).
