Community Theatre Project Seeks Performers

The Lone and Level Sands;

Seven stories about the rising and falling of kings.

Julius Caesar, Mark Antony and Hamlet. Idi Amin, Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein. Ozyamdias, King Solomon and the Godfather. The three wise men, a new born baby and King Herod the Great. What remains ...?

Earlier this year a group twelve people from Leeds were led in a series of new writing workshops by professional playwright Dan Ingram Brown. Using historical accounts, bible stories, great works of literature and autobiography the team have made the life and times of King Herod the Great their anchoring point in a new play. Herod the Great is the King we remember for the 'Slaughter of the Innocents'; the gory part of the Christmas story we often like to forget.

On Thursday 28th – Saturday 30th of January, in time for the season of Epiphany, this new play will be performed in the epic Leeds Parish Church. We are now recruiting volunteers to be lead and supporting actors, backstage crew, light and sound operators, costume and set makers, publicists and anything else that you would enjoy bringing to this production.

Rehearsals for lead actors will be on Thursday evenings from October 6.30 – 9pm in Leeds City Centre. Some experience is preferred for lead actors and we may audition depending upon take up. Not everyone needs experience!
