WYSOCS Update - The year ahead...
From WYSOCS newsletter...
I thought you might be pleased to see the following tribute to our Summer Lectures, which reads, ‘Just a short note of thanks and appreciation for this weekend’s conference. Keith was fantastic and brought so many insights with an unbelievable punch and clarity. Once again a Wysocs event has given me further inspiration but more importantly direction as to how to live my life.’
Now we look forward to our Summer Lectures in 2010 when Bishop Tom Wright will be with us. The venue is to be St. George’s, so there will be room to bring all your friends. There will be one lecture on Friday evening, 11th June and two on Saturday morning, 12th June, followed by lunch at Outwood House.
Before that a great deal more is to happen:
For our October 2009 event, see http://www.wysocs.org.uk/events.php If you can’t print out the leaflet, please email me and I’ll send one and if you can use a spare to hand to a friend or colleague, better still. ‘Creation - The Movie’, which depicts Darwin’s battle with faith, will be released on 25th September, so the Darwin Debate is still a hot topic and we all need to be clued up in a wholesome way. We hope our conference will have that result.
On 12th December, our Charity will hold its AGM. We’re pleased that the business meeting will be followed this year by a talk from Prof. Mike Goheen of Trinity Western University (TWU) in Vancouver. So keep the morning free if you can, and arrange to stay to lunch if you like. He will give further talks on the Saturday and Sunday evenings; each will stand alone but all are welcome to both or either. Details to follow.
Hopping forward again, to March, the School of Applied Global Ethics (SAGE) at Leeds Metropolitan University has invited Prof. Roy Clouser to give three of its public lectures and has asked WYSOCS to host the first of them at Outwood House. We have also arranged that he give a Chapel address at the London School of Theology (LST), and he may be able to fit in one or two other engagements during his stay.
