Roy Clouser Visits Leeds

Dear friends,WYSOCS logo

We’re pleased to announce the details of Roy Clouser’s visit next month – click here for the flyer. Roy will be giving an evening talk at Outwood House on Tuesday 9 March, followed by two talks at the School of Applied Global Ethics, Leeds Metropolitan University, on Wednesday 10 March. We encourage you to book for all three (please let us know you’re coming at http://www.wysocs.org.uk/contact.php or by telephoning).

We’re excited about the exposure that Roy’s philosophical work will gain through this programme. In addition to our partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, the London School of Theology have invited Roy to speak in their chapel service on the Monday of that week, a Christian students’ group in Cambridge are hosting him on the Friday evening, and groups of postgraduates at the universities of Leeds and York are due to meet with him informally. Please pray that these events will inspire more students with the idea of a Christian philosophy – and also ask God to give Roy strength and energy for the rather full schedule. (Anita is coming too, and those who met her at one of our Summer Balls are much looking forward to seeing her again.) If you’re interested in attending the Cambridge event on 11 March, please get in touch to receive more details when they’re available.

For later in the spring, we’re pleased to announce two further events. On Monday 17th May, Rev Dr Dale Kuehne will speak on the subject of relationships; he is the author of Sex and the iWorld: Rethinking Relationships Beyond an Age of Individualism. Then on Saturday 29th May, we look forward to three talks by Dr Duncan Roper on the subject of “Sovereignty and Settler Colonialism with Reference to New Zealand.

After that, don’t forget about WYSOCS summer lectures with Bishop NT Wright on 11-12 June.

With best wishes to you all on behalf of the WYSOCS committee,

Richard.

PS. If you need paper copies of the flyer about Roy’s visit, please get in touch.
