Manuel Bravo has done it again!

The Manuel Bravo Project has been awarded £10,000 at the Yorkshire Forward Creating Better Futures awards for the second time.

Creating Better Furture Award

Jacinta and Hannah from the project (pictured above) had this to say:

“We are absolutely delighted to receive this award on behalf of everyone involved in making The Manuel Bravo Project’s aims a reality. We support asylum seekers who are unable to find adequate legal representation by linking them up with immigration specialists, solicitors, law students and other individuals who can help with their case; and with the exception of two part-time paid staff, everyone else within the Project donates their time for free.

"We are pleased to say that with this generous award from Yorkshire Forward, we can keep our two paid staff in post for an additional 6 months each. We are hoping to appoint a new project manager in the near future to pursue a wider development strategy to expand our services and roll similar templates of legal provision out across the country.

"Without grants such as this one our work would not be possible. In light of the closure of Refugee and Migrant Justice, The Manuel Bravo Project has already experienced an increase in demand for our services and we rely on local trusts, businesses and individuals to help us continue our vital work in the community.

"Finally, we would like a say a huge thank you to Yorkshire Forward for recognising the time and energy all of our volunteers, staff and supporters have put into making sure that we support vulnerable asylum seekers as best we can, and give them a chance to experience the more positive side of Leeds”.
