'Understanding the Challenge and Influence of Violent Islamic and Far Right Extremism'

The BNP claim to stand for Christian values and some young Muslims are being radicalised through mosques and Islamic internet sites.

The more air space these views get, the more they can influence mainstream thinking.

This was highlighted during the General Election, but the issues raised continue to be important now.

The churches are concerned that we continue to oppose extremism, and of particular importance is how we support young people to oppose it.

Led by Dr Philip Lewis, author of Youth British and Muslim. Philip will outline the draw of extreme views for young people and how they can be manipulated to act out extremist attitudes. He will analyse common factors in Far Right and violent Islamic extremism and the group will be facilitated to identify ways to address these concerns with young people.
