Breathe: October '10 Update

This is the first straightforward monthly update for a while, due to us being very busy (in a simple kind of way!?) with the Conspiracy of Freedom.

We have seen 300 people face to face as part of 7 Conspiracy of Freedom events in 7 cities.

We have raised nearly £11,000, thanks to some spectacular generosity, to create and distribute 4 quality short videos.

Read the commitments people made at the events in the Conspiracy Guide. For example:

“I have realised that I need to be less busy, not just in how I spend my time, but in my thoughts and the desire to pursue other experiences”

“I’m going to spend some time with God on payday and ask for greater wisdom in stewardship”

“I will offer more hospitality to people I wouldn’t normally entertain”

“I’ll encourage my son to tithe his pocket money”

“We don’t really need two cars! Maybe it’s time to get rid of one. Does someone else need it more than us? P.S. have to ask husband first!”

“There is enough grace for me, even when I limit my shower times, drive a knackered car, buy my clothes from ebay...! God loves me even if I didn’t do this. But I want to enjoy living simply.”

Word is spreading via Facebook and Youtube, where the Home video has been seen by nearly 1,500 people.

Could each of us hold a discussion with friends based on one of these videos?

Play it to your small group. Invite friends round. Suggest it to all the group leaders at your church. Forward it to other churches. Share it online with friends.

Watching the videos is great, but the power comes from real, honest discussion. Could you make this happen?
