It gives us great pleasure to announce our second annual Theology Week, running from Tuesday the 23rd of November to Thursday the 25th of November.
Rick Williams, Senior Pastor of Riverside Vineyard Church in London and a highly respected theologian, will present three public talks on the topic “A Changing Church for a Changing World”.
Lulu Williams will speak at a lunch for women pastors and leaders on the topic "Keeping our Passion alive" on Wednesday the 24th of November.
Rick and Lulu planted Riverside Vineyard Church 21 years ago, from which 14 churches have been planted. Together they also serve on the Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland Leadership Group.
Rick read theology at Cambridge University and went into the ministry originally with the Church of England and has a Doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary.
With many years of experience as a pastor, Lulu brings a refreshing perspective to the challenge of pastoring as a woman.
Rick Williams says about his talks:
"The church, certainly in the West, is facing a huge challenge. Is the challenge, however, a threat or an opportunity? The threat tends to be seen in the unprecedented rates of change in society, and the shifts in cultural and religious practice. The opportunity comes in the form of equally unprecedented openness to issues of God, spirituality, and meaning. Both are good reasons to stop and re-evaluate the essential call of the 21st Century Church – the call to mission in Leeds.
"To what extent do we need a changing Church for a changing world? How do we shape the Church so that it is true to biblical imperative and cultural awareness? These questions will be examined over three evenings, under the headings “The Changing Culture”, “A Theology of Mission” and “Shaping the Church for Mission”."
Lulu will ask, "How can we keep our passion for Jesus alive?" In addressing that question, she will look at 3 areas of health: physical, emotional and spiritual. There will be opportunity for discussion and to pray for one another during the lunch.
