Dear Friend of City of Sanctuary

I am writing to you because I know you have shown an interest in City of Sanctuary, and I thought you might like to know about our current situation.

GROWTH

You are probably aware that the national movement has been growing very quickly. Just during this last couple of months, new groups are being formed in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Lincoln, and York, the Welsh Assembly is considering how Wales may become a 'nation of sanctuary, and a number of national organisations have decided to sign the resolution of support. All over the country, this growth, along with the wonderful work being done by existing groups, adds up to countless instances of lives enhanced and communities enriched.

I'm sure you know that most of this work is done on a voluntary basis. In addition, we always try to offer services such as conferences, visits, telephone and internet advice and meetings without any charge. However, the work of co-ordinating, supporting, administering and underpinning is largely done by a small number of paid staff, all employed on a part-time basis.

HELP

At the moment, we are applying for funding for 2011 and beyond, but we have run into a fairly serious cash problem which is likely to affect us for the next few months. So I am writing to ask you whether you would consider making a small donation to City of Sanctuary in order to help keep us afloat. I know that this is a difficult time for everyone, and I assure you that I would not make this request if there was no immediate and quite urgent need. If, after considering your other commitments, you feel you can offer us some help, the link below leads to a way that you can securely send us your gift.

Alternatively, you could send us a cheque made out to City of Sanctuary and post it to City of Sanctuary, Victoria Hall, Norfolk St, Sheffield, S1 2JB

With many thanks.

Blessings and Peace,

Inderjit Bhogal
