Transcendence - multimedia Eucharist, Feb 5th 2011 in Leeds

Transcendence is a multimedia Eucharist, which will be held on Saturday 5th February at Leeds Parish Church.

It aims to mix the old and the new, ancient chant and futuristic ambience, scripture and prayer, movement, symbol and sacrament. Going to Transcendence has been compared to stepping into a medieval painting, bathed in light and moving images. Its a place where you can sit on a cushion (or a chair) and watch incense curl through the projector beams, lighting up the futuristic technology, and journey around an ancient building by night, kneeling at a creative prayer installation if you wish, before sharing communion together.

Transcendence is designed to enable worshippers, or simply the curious, to participate in a way which is appropriate to them.  Participants can use each one of the prayer installations, or simply be in the building.  There will be ample space for reflection, the lighting will have a candelit feel and no one is required to join in with anything which makes them feel uncomfortable.
