Other Info

At a remarkable time in the history of global environmental concern, we hope this event will stimulate thoughtful and creative discussion about our callings with regard to creation care at local and global scales.  To this end, we’re pleased to highlight a couple of other events in this theme.  First, on Sat 12 March there’s a conference called Climate of Hope, also in Leeds, where you can engage in a range of workshops focusing on churches combating climate change, with a keynote talk by Sir John Houghton.  Later, on 26–28 September in Cambridge, there’s a conference on Sustainability in Crisis, especially for campaigners, academics and policy-makers, organized by KLICE and the Faraday Institute.

As for other LifeMatters activities, I can report that our course on Islam: The other family of Abraham was a stimulating exploration involving compelling presentations from Dr Arthur Jones and illuminating dialogue with Muslim contributors from the Education and Dialogue Charity.  The meetings were greatly enriched by participants coming from a variety of cultural backgrounds (and I hope we’ll continue our reading and discussions).

There’s also a lot of exciting news from RealityBites to share another time; for now I’ll just encourage you to visit the blog for weekly stories that are not only short but potentially subversive – including Mark’s film clip on cannibalism and the gospel…

Finally, we’re meeting to pray about WYSOCS on Monday 7 February at 8pm.  Do put this in your diary and join us for an informal evening of news, discussion and imaginative prayer at 2 Dale Villas, Horsforth, LS18 4JN – you’ll be very welcome!
