Fundraising Event for the Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield

Hiatus

I have been away from Leeds for a while now, on exchange in Utrecht, Holland. I went back over January, and stayed with the Community of the Resurrection for two weeks. This community is an Anglican Monastery in Mirfield, so I had the opportunity to live, pray and worship as a part of this group of brothers. This experience helped much in my spiritual life, at a point when I was trying to adjust my faith in a new country and a different environment.

Lent for me is about a Hiatus or a break from what we see as our norm. It is also about spiritual fasting, which I interpret as taking something up to bring into your relationship with God and to carry it forward in all that follows.

I am running the half marathon in Utrecht on Easter Monday for Mirfield’s Centenary appeal. I will also be running the Hull 10km in May, the Leeds 10km in June and the York 10km for the appeal as well. It also the case that a number of donations will be made to local based charities with a social action focus in Leeds, Hull and York area.

How to respond? Please pray about the whole event, donations for the ongoing Mirfield appeal can be made through their Just Giving page. If you want to run, jog, walk or wheel any of the 10 km in support of the charities the Community choices to raise money for get in contact with me @ tomabritt@googlemail.com.
