Third Sector Leeds (TSL) is a new third sector led approach to co-ordinating the engagement of the sector in partnership working.

TSL aims to address long-standing issues regarding the lack of influence on decision making in Leeds despite the size of the sector and the wide range of vital services it delivers. It is also intended that Third Sector Leeds will enhance the ability of the sector to respond to new challenges.

On 16th May Third Sector Leeds will be hosting its first Open Forum of 2011. Six months on from the cuts event at Leeds Civic Hall, this event will continue the dialogue over cuts as well as highlighting other key challenges for the third sector in Leeds. The topics are:

· Cuts. As well as updating you on the progress of work on cuts there will be a participatory session which will give you the opportunity to feed back the impact of the cuts on your organisation and clients. We’ll collate the results and use it to show statutory partners what the ground level effects of cuts to the sector are and use this in future negotiations.

· Locality working. We will be hearing from the Council about Integrated Locality Working – the new approach to localities and find out how the sector can play a part.

· Commissioning. The Commissioning of services affects lots of groups within the sector, which is why Third Sector Leeds has taken it up as one of its key work areas for 2011/12. At this event the Third Sector Leeds position statement on Commissioning will be opened up for feedback. This will be the basis of Third Sector Leeds’ future work on Commissioning and your opportunity to feed into it.

As well as this there will be information on what Third Sector Leeds has done in the past six months and speakers (to be confirmed).

Date and time: Monday 16th May, 9.30am – 12.30am

Venue: St George’s Centre, St George's Church,Great George Street, Leeds, LS1 3BR
