Urban Saints North East: Update April 11

URBAN SAINTS NORTH EAST
Helping children and young people live lives of Faith, Hope and Love

April 2011

It's been a privilege to get around the region meeting leaders as part of the Re-Energize training tour over the last month. Many Energize teams have been trained as a result, and dozens of other people have found out about Urban Saints, and are currently trying out Energize. If you weren't able to make it, these Energize videos may be of help to you and your team, whether you are new to Energize, or if you're an existing user who hasn't got fully to grips with it yet. The Re-Energize tour finishes in Grimsby on Tuesday 19th April.

It was also great last month to celebrate the launch of MIMIC - our brand new discipleship resource which is available free as part of Energize. I've had a preview, and it looks great, making discipling children and young people simple, accountable and effective.

There have been three new groups that have signed up to Energize in the North East during the past month or so. They are Chester field St Thomas; Ripon 'Sunday at 5'; and Rotherham Elim. It's great to welcome you to Urban Saints! You can find out where the other Urban Saints groups local to you are here.

Here's a run down of what you can find out about in this month's e-mail:
  • Big Night Out: May 14th - All the latest news plus promo vid
  • SPREE North: July 8th - 10th -Spiritual and Activities Programme revealed plus promo vid
  • ReGenerate: Fabulous training options for leaders across the North East
  • Momentum Faithfest: A special youth event for Pentecost in the centre of Hull
  • 30-seconds with... : Chris Vale, Youth Worker at Tees Valley Community Church is our first guest in this new feature
  • Three of the Best: Check out the best features on Energize, which we have been looking at on the Re-Energize training tour
Hope you find it useful!

Finally, please keep our groups from Pickering, Harrogate, Coulby Newham and Norton in your prayers - they are currently building houses as part of the ReBuild Project. They return on Tuesday.

With love and thanksgiving

Richard Townend - Regional Director

Faithfest in Hull, Saturday 11th June
Momentum in Hull is organising a major 'Faithfest' for young people in the centre of the city to mark Pentecost. The event features Chip Kendall from thebandwithnoname; Forerunner; Street Dance Group 'Release'; Luminescence; and DJ Galactus Jack. Urban Saints will be there providing refreshments for leaders. The event runs from 6:30pm to 10pm in Queen Victoria Square.

Holiday options in 2011
You may be planning on coming to SPREE, but there are a number of other holiday options throughout the North East that we think you should know about.

Whithaugh 2011
is a fabulous five day holiday between Monday 22nd and Friday 26th August 2011. Taking place at Whithaugh Park, there is a huge range of activities set in the stunning Scottish Borders with a worship programme that includes The Steels and Matt Summerfield. Places are limited at this camp, so if you're interested you better get your skates on!

SPREE in the Borders takes place between 17th and 19th July, also at Whithaugh Park. This is similar to SPREE North, but even further north!

Scripture Union offer some holidays in the North East for groups or individual young people, and if you fancy travelling out of the region, there are a number of Urban Saints holidays taking place too.

And don't forget Harvest in Hutton Rudby, Tees Valley - our very own North East festival taking place between 17th and 21st August 2011. This year LZ7 will be the headline act with worship each night from WIll Horner of the Naughty Vicars. Speakers include Mark Ritchie, Rachel Gardner and Jamie Hill

Regenerate
Regenerate is a programme of training which we are partnering with Scripture Union on.

Here is the information for the Evening Regenerate events. Click on the link for more details - it would be great to see you there:
There are also some Daytime Regenerate events that take place. Here are the details for those in the coming term:

Shopping online helps Urban Saints North East
If you would like to help us raise money for to subsidise our events and training programmes to make them more accessible to all, there are several small ways which are already making a big difference. Easy Fundraising is an incredibly simple way raising funds each time you shop online on sites such as ebay and Amazon. It costs no more to you, but simply by registering, Urban Saints will receive a donation each time you buy something over the Internet. Recycling phones and ink cartridges also helps us raise a few hundred pounds each year. When selecting the charity, we are Urban Saints-C2003. You can also become a Personal Supporter of our work in the North East. Contact us for more information.
