New adult care service helps regain independence

A new service is available to help people live as independently as possible in their own homes. Leeds’ new reablement service pulls together a variety of different types of support including equipment, alarms and sensors, along with support and encouragement to build up confidence to get back to doing day-to-day activities after a health setback.

As part of the reablement service, people can receive intensive, time-limited support from Adult Social Care’s Skills for Independent Living team (SkILs for short). This team supports people to develop and practise daily living skills in their homes such as washing, bathing, cooking and taking medication.
