Onside Sports Summer 2011 Tournament - Register by 28th July!

We have just come to the end of another exciting season with Onside Sports!  Moortown FC won the Under 16's league in their last game and Garforth FC won the open-age championship finishing just two points clear of RETAS.

If you haven't heard of Onside Sports before, we could be what you or your church have been looking for.  We are a charity working in Leeds which aims to provide hope through sport, attempting to bridge gaps between communities in Leeds, encouraging varied ethnicities and religions to engage in sport together.

We run weekly football leagues based in Leeds that are primarily aimed at providing local churches with a sports based ministry.  At Onside Sports, we run a league for younger footballers (pre-GCSE) where your youth leader or volunteer can bring down a team of six or more players to take part in a 12-week football season, that encourages the mentoring and growth of your young people in Christ.  We pray before each football match, asking that God blesses the players and the football, and show the young people that their attitude during football can be an act of worship to God.
We also run an open-age league which anyone within your church can be a part of, and this encapsulates the same ethos as the under-16 leagues, looking to grow the players involved, and encourage a positive and fair atmosphere to play football within.

These leagues are also open to Christian individuals who are perhaps looking to witness to a group of friends through football and we are more than happy to invite and nurture teams like this into the leagues, we are not exclusive to Christians but however ask that the team manager be a mature Christian.

If you do not see yourself playing in the leagues but would like to get involved in the work of Onside Sports, we always gratefully accept financial sponsor's or donations, and are always looking for volunteer referee's within the leagues.
