The Fred Shed has Moved

As of 22 July Leeds Christian Community Trust and other current occupants of the ‘Fred Shed’ on Westfield Rd successfully moved into Leeds City Centre. LCCT current projects and tenants including Network LCCTSmallLeeds, Joanna and Leeds Youth Cell Network have now moved to the 17th Floor of West Riding House in the heart of Leeds City Centre. As well as putting us in a great location the other major benefit is that we have been able to get this office space for free.

With an economic downturn there is lots of office space in Leeds sitting empty doing nothing. These empty properties are costing the landlords money because they have to pay business rates on them. LCCT is a charity and as such don’t have to pay much in business rates. We have teamed up with Hammonds, a broker that specialises in putting charities in touch with landlords. The idea is simple, we come in and occupy the empty space and use our charitable status to give the landlord a huge discount on their business rates. In return we get free office space. If a paying tenant comes in we will have to move but we have decided to continue with our ‘light touch’ approach and be ready to pick up and go somewhere else.

If you want to contact LCCT or any of the projects you can continue using th e same telephone numbers and email addresses. For all post please use our PO Box Address:

Excellent news! :-) Nice to see something positive come out of the downturn, which seems to have had such a negative effect on so many charities.
