We have already sold a third of the tickets and it looks set to be a great evening.
Sport offers a fantastic opportunity for the gospel as it has great power to bring people together around a common interest, people of different ages and backgrounds. In my previous work with Christians in Sport I travelled around the country hosting evangelistic sports quizzes which attracted huge numbers of people. In 2010 Christians in Sport held 414 guest events with 24,200 attendees (62% of attendees were non-Christians). With all this in mind, I am very excited about how God will use this event as a great one-off event but also a platform to the various 'investigating Christianity' courses that will be running in Leeds in the Autumn term. That is the vision for this event - that it will create a platform for sports people to come and hear about Christ who then want to investigate more through a local course.
We suggest that people do not plan to come unless they are bringing a non-Christian guest and we recommend that people might pay for their guest (£15 for 2 tickets). Alternatively your church may wish to buy a certain number of tickets off us so they can give them away for free (for example 10 tickets would cost £75 and 5 people in your church look to invite 5 mates).
