Volunteers needed for BEACON Bradford and more

Volunteers Needed! BEACON is recruiting volunteers to act as McKenzie Friends. Any potential McKenzie Friends will participate in two training sessions in July. No previous experience is required! A McKenzie Friend is a non-legal member of the public who assists an appellant when they have no legal representative, at a time that is often bewildering and full of anxiety. A McKenzie Friend is a volunteer, independent of the court system and the Home Office. BEACON is looking for dedicated volunteers who will be able to commit to the project on a long term basis. McKenzie Friends provide moral support throughout the appeal procedure;  Provide informed (non-legal) help;  Work with the appellant in preparing their case and assisting them with research; Accompany the appellant to court, take notes, act as witnesses to the proceedings, organise papers and/or quietly give advice For more information, please contact Laura on mailto:beacon@beaconbradford.org

Researcher:  (short term/voluntary) CTAL is completing research amongst the churches about worshipping communities and mission engagement during 2011/12. They are looking for people to help develop and complete this research working alongside the Ecumenical Facilitator. The role will involve using computers, telecommunications and the Internet whilst using statistics and mapping software. Experience in research would be beneficial but not necessarily essential. Expenses can be claimed for any costs incurred.

Administrator (5ours/week voluntary). Due to the expanding work of CTAL an exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to work with the Facilitator as further projects are developed. They are looking for someone who would like to gain some valuable work experience or would like to volunteer for a Christian organisation to complete administrative tasks as required. This could be a shared role. You will need to be skilled in IT including Microsoft Office and have access to the internet. There will be need to attend some meetings and take minutes. Expenses can be claimed for any costs incurred.

If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Simon Dean at simon@ctal.org.uk  or call 01522 504071
