Godly Jazz at St Andrew’s
There will be a morning service with a difference at 10.30am on Sunday 9 October at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church in Shaftesbury Avenue in Roundhay in Leeds.
Richard Leach’s Seven Stars of Jazz will be joining Rev David Pickering in leading the service.
“We will be praising God with jazz,” says David Pickering. “Jazz services at St Andrew’s are very popular and we look forward to welcoming the whole community. And it’s free!”
“Richard Leach is hugely popular as one of the finest jazz trombonists in the country,” says Viva Baillie, who booked the band. “The evening before the service, Saturday 8 October, Richard Leach’s Seven Stars of Jazz will be performing in the St Andrew’s Memorial Hall. Tickets have sold fast. Everyone is in for a real treat. Then, the jazz praise on Sunday will be really special – and no ticket is required. Just turn up!”
“Richard Leach formed the band seven years ago. It plays Chicago, Dixieland and Swing in the style of late virtuoso Scottish jazz trumpeter, Alex Welsh,” says Viva.
“It will be a foot-stomping night out and an uplifting Sunday morning, following Jesus and praising God with jazz. If you come regularly, or haven’t been to church recently – or ever – come and share God’s love through this really fine jazz band,” concludes David Pickering.
