Celebrating 400 years of the bible in English in Roundhay

Sunday 20 November 2011

St. Edmund’s Church

Lidgett Park Road, LS8 1JN

at 1.30p.m.

Celebrate 400 years

of hearing the Bible in English.

Come and listen to

the Gospel according to St. John

from beginning to end.

We will be reading from the

1611 King James Bible,

the first official English translation.

It had a huge effect on English literature, education, politics (both in the UK and abroad) and social movements e.g. the abolition of slavery. Itcontains some of the most poetic language ever written in English.

Invite your friends, neighbours and family to share in this opportunity to come and listen to the Word of the Lord - be prepared to be moved.

Refreshments will be served at the end of the reading about 4.15p.m.
