Spring into Balance
Having come out of 'The Big Freeze' spring suddenly seems to be in the air. Life is appearing but the trauma of the ice and snow [in London anyway!] has taken its toll. I wonder if you feel that you are just coming out of something difficult? If so, be aware of 2 dangers. Firstly there is a temptation to just focus in of the damage and difficulty, failing to see the signs of life springing up in the corners of the garden. The second danger is that we over focus on the positive aspects of recovery and try to accelerate away from the difficulty we have travelled through, failing to learn anything from the past. Which ever season of the soul you find yourself in, take a moment to observe what has been and what has now come with generous acceptance. Lent (the weeks leading up to Easter) is a helpful season of reflection: only when we stop and look will we ever see what God has and is doing. "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you" (Isaiah 60v1). |
