Olympics Gold Medal tickets to give away - Deadline 1st August
What’s the Olympics got to do with Jewish and Muslim people in Leeds? A mixed group from these communities is planning a learning journey to Israel-Palestine in early 2013. Will you help make it happen? This is our opportunity to test out whether crowd funding works.
Those of the group who can are paying all or some of their own way, but we need to raise about £2,500 for bursaries. Crowd funding is part social investment and part good old fashioned donation. However, unlike simply asking for money, there’s an expectation that by ‘investing’ in these people the community at large will benefit. You’ll be able to keep up with their experiences live via social media, and you’ll be invited to hear from the group after they return.
…and four of you who donate will get to be at the Olympic football Gold Medal match at Wembley on 11th August (3pm start) thanks to the generosity of one of the group who can’t use his tickets. We’ll draw two names out of a hat at 12pm on 1st August, each of whom will be sent a pair of tickets.
To donate go to www.t4p.org.uk and click the Virgin Money Giving button on the home page. If you're interested in getting a pair of tickets write ‘gold’ in the message box and give your name. The report we get from Virgin will give us your postal address so we can send the tickets to you.
The group say ‘We are undertaking this learning journey together as a way of deepening our understanding about the issues in that part of the world, seeing and understanding more about the very different perspectives that exist. We see this as an experience that will facilitate our own growth and understanding about how to work with conflict and difference here in Leeds. In particular we are interested to visit with and to speak to people who are doing innovative, inspiring work across both communities as a way of learning about how to work across difference in our own context.’
Thank you.
