LFTW - 200 + Christians in the Workforce Equipped to Tackle Addictions

Christian addictions-training charity Life For The World Trust have awarded over 200 individuals with University certificates in gospel-based training in addictions over the past 8 years.
The Certificate Course, in Substance Misuse, Care and Counselling is delivered by Christian professionals with long experience in the field of addictions. Throughout the course they motivate and equip others within the UK Church to develop their calling from a Biblical and professional perspective.
The charity’s Training Advisor Patrick Prosser says, “The topic of addictions is increasingly in the forefront when social action is considered. Our mission is for the Church to be a focal-point of healing and recovery within a community.
To achieve this, Christians need specialist as well as Biblical training in addictions with an accreditation that is recognised by all service-providers. The Certificate Course provides exactly this, through its validation by the University of Gloucestershire.”
Pastor Stephen Fowler based in Wells was at a key juncture when he did the course. He said, “Taking the Life For The World Certificate Course, for me, has been a major factor in developing the vision and structure of the Connect SLAP (street level access point) project based at the Connect Elim in Wells.
We now work with many people from different faiths or no faith who have addictions and life-controlling issues. The church and its wider team offer them unconditional love and recovery as a key part of our work in the community.”
Life For The World are running two such Certificate Courses starting this September, in Leeds and Bristol. This will include 18 full days of training spread over the course of the academic year 2012-‘13. Places are limited and the start dates are soon approaching so those thinking about doing the course are being advised to contact LFTW immediately with any queries or for an application pack.
