GOD IS TAKING YOU OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
I believe that God doesn’t want men and women of God but children of God. Jesus said, ‘
I tell you most solemnly, unless you become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven’ (Mt. 18:3). Much of the Kingdom of God is unreasonable to the rational, scientific mind. Jesus tells us we must make ourselves ‘
as little as a little child’ (Mt 18:4). It’s an act of the will. We must give ourselves permission to be childlike and vulnerable which is a threatening concept. This testimony is a great illustration of that principal:
“It was a terrible period in my life. Within the space of a few weeks, one of my nieces had committed suicide, another niece had attempted suicide, my daughter had attempted suicide and I discovered my mother had tried to take her life twice. I sat in church feeling numb. During the worship, Joe encouraged everyone to (in faith) hold up an imaginary glass, ask God to fill it with his presence and then to drink. He then asked us to dip our heads in an imaginary barrel full of God’s presence and take a big drink. I felt so desperate for God’s touch I put my head forwards into the barrel and drank. Suddenly I fell to the floor and began to laugh uncontrollably as God filled me with his joy and peace as he delivered me from all the grief I’d been experiencing.”
THE POWER OF SINGING IN TONGUES
“Before I was a Christian I used to be a Jehovah’s Witness. Amongst other things, it left me gripped by constant fear. Over the years, I received prayer which helped a little but the fear would always return. Then I attended a meeting where Joe commenced the worship by leading everyone in singing in tongues. Normally I regard singing in tongues as a horrible noise but suddenly I felt as if angelic voices were enveloping me. Then a noise started coming out of my mouth which was amazing. I sang no words but one breath lasted far longer than I could naturally have sung.
Joy was bursting from me and it seemed like black wispy smoke was drifting from my feet
as all the fear was leaving me. The singing in tongues went on for a long time but I loved it because the longer it went on, the more deliverance I received. At home the experience continued. Now I feel so peaceful!!! I often think that I owe so much to Joe for his wonderful praise that night!”

Although Sara and I used to minister in the USA we still receive testimonies from that time:

USA
We would love to begin ministering in the States again but we haven’t received any invitations to return. We’re taking that as the Lord not opening the doors … yet! However, we really value all the people we met there over through that wonderful 10 year period of ministry and miss them terribly.
PERSONAL MINISTRY
From Monday to Friday I minister to individuals in my home on an ongoing basis. Here’s one typical testimony: “During my childhood I lived under the strict controlling influence of my late grandfather. This led to a number of big lies and spirits of infirmity and rejection afflicting me and a stronghold of negativity dominating my mindsets and approach to life. Through Joe’s ministry, after months of renouncing these lies and filling my life with God’s truths, my whole life has changed.”
ANGELS AT ‘HUNGRY HEARTS’ (HH)
People frequently see angels at Hungry Hearts. I was telling a friend called Steve about my wife, Sara, seeing an angel at HH. Later, Steve sent me this note. “I mentioned the angel story to my mate, Carl, and he told me that some years ago during worship at one of your workshops, he looked up at the windows above where you normally stand and saw a group of angelic figures looking down at everyone and smiling. It freaked him out a bit. He thought he was seeing things, so never mentioned it.”
“I went to Hungry hearts for the first time last week. I enjoyed it so much, and I absolutely loved the song ‘When Heaven Comes Down’ too.”

The aim of HH is to be a ‘portal’ for his love and power to pour through from heaven.

PERSONAL NEWS

Sara: She absolutely loves her new job, advising GPs about effective drug treatment and helping to make massive savings on their prescription costs. What a terrific answer to prayer!

Music: I’m presently working on various albums. (i) Another instrumental album (ii) A compilation of the all the best moments from our Hungry Hearts meetings and (iii) A 5 track album similar in content to ‘Next To you’ where God is speaking one-to-one to the listener.

Supernatural lifestyle: As I was in the check-out at Tesco’s, I felt God tell me that the man in front was separated from his partner, that she was like an ice mountain because of hurts in her life, but that Jesus was working on her and that things would be OK. I approached him in the car park and told him what God had said. He was utterly amazed because that was exactly his situation. He said he was a back-slidden Christian because of years of difficulties.

Police woman brought to the Lord: A few months ago I was on Jury Service for two weeks. At the beginning, the jurors introduced themselves to each other and said what their occupation was. It’s always difficult for me to describe exactly what I do, so I semi-jokingly said I was an exorcist! Immediately, everyone was enthralled and there followed some really interesting conversations about the power of the Holy Spirit. Two people said they had ‘presences’ in their home which made them fearful. Another said he had voices in his head. I became friendly with a police woman. Before we went home one day, we sat in Leeds Civic Square talking about her life. Eventually I asked her if she would allow Jesus to come into her life. As I prayed for her, going through each phases of difficulties and hurts she’d experienced, she said she was feeling lots of heat. I reassured her that this was normal when having an encounter with God. The next day she told me that after we’d separated, as she was walking to the station to catch her train, she suddenly started to laugh uncontrollably. I told her that the heat was to do with being filled with God and laughter was the overflow. (There is a part 2 to this story which I’ll share in the next newsletter.)
