So, who is Joanna?

The biblical Joanna was the wife of Chuza (Herod's steward) (Luke 8:3). She was a disciple of Jesus. The bible tells us that Joanna, Susanna, Mary Magdalene and others provided for Jesus from their substance. She was also among the first who saw the glory of the empty tomb (Luke 24:10) and carried the good news into town. Scholars believe Joanna was set free and healed by Jesus. The Hebrew root for Joanna (a derivative of Hannah) means "God is gracious". It is the same as Ioanna and is the feminine form of Jonathan (gift of God).

Today, Joanna is a community of women whose lives have been touched and radically transformed.
